Strategic Planning Director
Mission:
Lead / manage key cross-functional strategic projects sponsored by the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Committee:
- Company-wide annual Strategic Planning, Disease Area Strategy and Portfolio Review.
- Identification and assessment of major business opportunities (internal and external) with potential for major impact on 5-year and 10 year growth and profitability.
- Organizational initiatives including integration of acquired companies.
- Assessment and execution of major M&A opportunities.
- Ad hoc requests from CEO on issues of key importance.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage cross functional teams to successful execution with clear top or bottom line impact in near and long-term.
- Ensure projects which use external management consultants are well managed and viewed as successful by CEO & Executive Committee.
- Prepare and present updates to the Executive Committee.
- Drive company-wide annual Strategic Planning and Disease Area Strategy/Portfolio review process.
- Lead company-wide strategic planning process including definition of targets, coordinating with functions and finance team, and assembling the strategic plan documents.
- Lead company-wide Disease Area Strategy including coordinating functional input, and ensuring appropriate prioritization and development of Business Development & Licensing and Merger & Acquisition opportunities.
- Prepare presentations for Executive Committee, and other Boards.
- Identify and assess major business opportunities (internal and external) with potential for major impact on 5-year and 10-year growth and profitability (>$500M impact).
- Drive people development. Ensure appropriate level and quality of recruiting activity to sustain rotation of talents to operations. Maintain high calibre of the group through active recruiting and development/coaching. Train and coach others on core competencies.
